Lucy was my cat. He was a black and white shorthair, and I to this day remember when his coat pattern looks like. His real name was Lucifer, named that by my mother in an effort to taunt my Grandmother. I loved Lucy with all my heart, he was the main source of affection for me at home, which is probably why I like cats in general.
hit by car. last moments.
I dream sometimes of being back on board the ship.
I find myself wandering the empty passageways looking for something, but I know not what.
It seems all too eerily familiar. I know it is the ship, yet things seem different.
A feeling of familiarity engulfs me, yet things are not familiar. I feel as though I belong, yet should not be there.
I run into shipmates I once knew, no longer youthful but weathered with time's passing.
Climbing a ladder topside I see the Chief again, yet I know he passed long ago.
He looks down at me with a chuckle and a smile, like a waterlogged pirate deep beneath the waves.
I realize that we are underwater, the ship resting in her watery grave.
Other shipmates known and unknown wander about much as I am.
We do not speak yet we converse among ourselves.
I see the ship still, in my dreams.
Deep below the surface she once roamed, her crew both living and dead bound to her forever.
Part of the ship, part of the crew.
Forever entangled.
We sail together once again, while our bodies dream at home in bed.
